Sending Emails from the Matter Details Panel

Directly below the matter name, there are six action buttons. These buttons provide quick access to common actions related to the matter. The available buttons include Email, Meet, Note, Log, Bill, and Trust. Each button opens the related panel or feature so you can manage that part of the matter without leaving the Matter Details panel.

The Email button is used to send an email connected to the matter. When you click this button, the system opens the email panel and prepares the message based on the selected matter. If the matter’s client has an email address saved in the system, that email address can be added automatically to the recipient field. If the client does not have an email address saved, the system may show a missing email error when you try to send an email from the matter.

To learn how to create, send, and schedule an email, please visit Sending and Scheduling Emails.

After sending the email to the selected recipient, a record of the sent message will be saved in the system. The email record is saved in the related Communication tab for every recipient included in the email, regardless of the recipient type. This means the sent email can be found in the Communication tab of the matter, the matter’s client, and any other recipients added to the email.

If you recorded time while preparing the email, the Timesheet panel will open automatically after the email is sent. You can then review the recorded time and save it as a time entry connected to the email work.
